WordPress tells me it’s been six years of me telling my stories, ranting and raving, expressing my onions, and chronicling my misadventures with the mental health system(s) and other adventures. I know I’ve been slow in writing and posting lately, there’s just a lot going on — all good!
Since I’ve been in a place of recovery, and the only thing about bipolar that is limiting me is getting the medication I need to stay in recovery, I have been super-productive. I’ve not much focused on the irritating minutiae of, well, being irritated — or irritable — that a lot of us knows comes along with mental illness. In fact, extreme irritability is am early warning sign of younger people who might develop (or already have) a mental illness. Had I, or anyone in my family known this, I likely would have been diagnosed and treated much earlier.
In the six years I’ve been writing –or at least registered– here, I’ve gone through several different jobs, had tough times and good and in-between times, I met and eventually moved in with my wonderful girlfriend, completed and published my memoir, and am anticipating research for a second book (not about me!), I’m speaking about and activating for change in mental healthcare in the US and eradicating stigma everywhere. There’s a lot more that I cannot think of right now at 5am EST. But, it has been, and continues to be, a great ride.
Thanks everyone reading this for taking part!
