I somehow feel like I am writing a personal online dating ad here, which I actually have done and can do very well. Asking for assistance in my job search and leads to paid speaking/workshop gigs, not so easy, but here goes anyhow:
1) I’m tired of public relations. Not just “tired,” but sick and disgusted with it, at least corporate PR. I like doing PR with and for artists – they are grateful, interested, committed and collaborative. But, mostly they do not have a lot of money. I’m not very materialistic, but I do have to pay my rent and eat — and pay for my meds and healthcare out of my pocket (I don’t have any insurance). So, I’m on the search for a job in the mental health field: peer specialist, case manager, advocacy specialist, something I’ve never heard of, etc. I know I might have to take a cut in current salary, I hope not, but I’m willing to do that for peace of mind and actual interest in what I do for 12+ hours of my weekdays. If you know of anything that seems appropriate (especially with a personal contact), please send it my way: firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) I’m a mental illness awareness activist, speaker and author who has done presentations, workshops, readings, etc. for a wide range of people, organizations, groups, institutions, but I need more gigs, that is the bottom line! So, introductions and leads to groups/organizations/institutions who want to host and pay me to present, speak, run a workshop, etc., are much appreciated. I’m linking to my booking package so anyone reading this can, if they are so inclined, pass it along to others who might be interested and in a position to hire me. I’m extremely grateful for any warm or hot leads. I know how to research, cold-call and follow cold leads, and all that, so leave that to me. I’m in PR, which really means sales, so I’ve got that covered!
Okay, that’s it for now. I hope everyone is taking it easy or doing something they want to do this weekend. It’s freezing in Brooklyn, and I am going out to see friends and do errands today. But, it’s all good, I’m on a path to doing more of what I want and less of what I don’t, and I very much appreciate any assistance from all comers and all corners.
