I don’t have health insurance or prescription drug coverage. I was getting my medication under the umbrella of a free health program I am involved in that mainly is for treating my asthma. But, for the past year, my pharmacy was filling all my scripts for free. I went in with all new scripts yesterday and found out they cut off all by my asthma meds last month — without alerting me. It’s going to be a real problem because each prescription is over $150 each with Abilify being $1400+ alone.
You might remember that I went off Abilify a while back because I could not afford it. It was a terrible experience that I don’t care to repeat. I felt totally crazy–and helpless that I couldn’t do anything about it. My therapist had always said she wondered what I was like off meds. I have been doing so well, she thought maybe I didn’t need them. Buzz – wrong answer. She saw what I was like just without the Abilify (I also take Wellbutrin, Lamictal and Klonopin) and said she never wants to see it again.
Not sure what I’m going to do. I have fought many battles with Bristol-Myers Squibb, the manufacturer of Abilify, which has sometimes given me a free 90-day supply and sometimes not. Probably not this time, because I am working and earn a decent salary, but no health insurance. BMS is a Big Pharmaceutical Company, so they really don’t care if I live or die, it’s all about the profits for them and giving away free Abilify doens’t make money.
Will keep you posted….
