Below is info about a great new 30-day program/project devised by my friend Dr. Alice Boyes about non-avoidant coping:
First, here’s a sample of the first status update, so you get the idea.
Dr Alice Boyes Psychologist
30 Day Non-Avoidant Coping Project: Today’s non-avoidance: Called to reconfirm a beach bungalow booking for trip to Malaysia. Had been putting it off because didn’t want to confront the thought/anxiety that they might’ve lost my booking, since I know they are full and I’ve had guesthouse bookings get lost before. Benefit: Found out they still have my booking > less anxiety + more excitement.
– What non-avoidant behaviour I/you did.
– What thoughts/emotions were confronted.
– Any benefits of the non-avoidance.
Drop in and out however you want.
You can participate in the project by leaving your non-avoidant coping update as a comment on the Facebook page.
You can drop in and out however you please. You’re welcome to just contribute an update occasionally if you want, or to update everyday.
This might be the toughest 30 day project yet. I’m not sure if I’ll be able keep this one up everyday, so we will all find out together how this works out!
Happy non-avoiding folks!
