The article below confirms my thesis that most people with BP do not receive even adequate, let alone excellent, treatment. We’ve got a totally fucked up healthcare system in the US!

Approximately 4.4% of Americans have had a diagnosis of bipolar disorderat some time during their lives, compared to a global average of 2.4%, and just 0.1% in India, researchers have revealed in Archives of General Psychiatry. The authors add that even though prevalence rates for bipolar spectrum disorder vary considerably around the globe, the associated disorders and their severities are not significantly different.
Unfortunately, a considerable number of bipolar disorder sufferers do not receive proper treatment, especially in low-income nations.
