What does “elective” mean in terms of abortion for any woman who has an unwanted pregnancy when the state of birth control for women is so iffy and unhealthy. When men are not reliable users of condoms and no one is really working on or cares about other male birth control methods. What is “elective” about abortion for a raped or incested girl or woman? Why is abortion not covered by public insurance when all manner of other “elective” procedures are? Why is healthcare considered “subsidized” for women, but just given to men (such as Viagra, which IS covered!) and our major health concerns considered “elective” in the USofA in 2009? Because men in Congress insisted it be added to the country’s health reform package and mostly men voted for it. So did Nancy Pelosi, a complete sell out to women on all levels.
It shocking that abortion is even an political issue in almost 2010. We sure have NOT come a long way, baby. As the late great Florynce Kennedy said: If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.
